About Me

Originally from California, I spent my childhood in the Los Angeles area before moving to the Central Coast for my teen years. Continuing my northward trajectory, I attended UC Berkeley for my undergraduate degree, where I double-majored in Gender and Women’s Studies and Rhetoric. Toward the end of my time at Berkeley, I began taking more philosophy courses and discovered a passion for the discipline that led me to pursue philosophy at the graduate level. I earned my M.A. in Philosophy from Columbia University and my Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Toronto before moving to upstate New York to join Siena University as an Assistant Professor in 2023. Outside of academia, I read paperback fantasy and science fiction novels, watch spooky movies, and lift weights.

On the left you can see the stalwart Mr. Jake, my family dog. He is excellent at hunting, and has taken down many rabbits, quail, lizards, and once, a deer. On the right you see my dog Lola. She has similar prey-related inclinations (she once caught a chipmunk, and two groundhogs) but she gets fewer opportunities because she has always been a city dog (rescued in Miami, adopted in Toronto, and now living Upstate NY). I find this mildly distressing because I am a vegetarian, and in fact was raised vegetarian, so I have never eaten meat.
